Search me…

Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
Psalm 139:23-24

A good friend of mine sent this to me via email this morning.  It struck me so much I wanted to share it with you.

This verse tells us what we must do every day.  It reminds us of what we need to pray for each morning upon waking.

No day is guaranteed to go the way we want it to.  Plans change, husbands or you yourself might have to work late, kids are grouchy and you might have to change 8 poopy diapers in a day (yep, I can attest to that one).

What helps to get me through each day that may be harder or more mundane or frustrating or just DIFFERENT than I anticipated is to keep asking God to help me to stop and take a breath when I lose patience or lose heart.  To remind me that these little people that are with me each day look to ME and are paying attention to how I act and what I say.  I am here to guide them and to love them in HIS way.

I ask Him to look at my heart and into my thoughts.  And if I’m asking Him to do those things I am conscience of what is there.  Sometimes it is ugly or depressing.  That is NOT what I want there but THAT is what is real.  And that’s why I ask Him to LEAD ME in HIS way because HIS way is NOT ugly or depressing.

His way, who He is and what He’s done for all of us takes all that ugliness away.

Try asking God to KNOW your heart and KNOW your thoughts.  Ask him to look for the ugliness in you and lead you away from it.  This is NOT a onetime thing.  Keep asking Him to lead you in His way and see how your days change.

The EVENTS of your days will probably not change.  Most likely they will NOT, however how you react to and feel about what happens WILL.

  4. It is such a work in progress isn't it Lindsey? But, I think the answer is one that won't change until the end of days. It will ALWAYS be a work in progress and as long as we know that and can embrace it we will be ok.
