A pinteresting afternoon on the patio

A warm sunny day, a patio, a couple glasses of wine, some snacks, old tshirts, a glue gun & a GOOD FRIEND…

Sounds like BLISS to me and IT sure WAS!!!

Betsy and I have this knack for pinning some of the same crafty things.

On one of our walks (one of my MOST favorite pastimes) we were talking about our latest pinterest crushes and decided it would be AWESOME to get together and put a pin or 2 into action!

Quality Control

Our creation?  Well we TRIED a version of this:

source

I don’t think either one of us is too sold on OUR version, but just for fun here’s a little tutorial for ya!

You will need:

Old tshirt
Fabric scissors
Fabric glue

Yep, I know this is more than listed above.  We made another creation too.
I'll post about that another time!!!

1)  Cut a t-shirt across into strips.  The softer the better!  Mine wasn’t very soft so I think that’s part of the reason it turned out stiff and well…just not quite right.  (WHY are most of my crafty posts “not quite right”?  Things that make ya go hm…)

Pull them a little bit so the strips curl up.  Mine didn’t curl very well.  A softer shirt does MUCH better!

Gather 3-4 strips together into 3 sections and braid as shown below leaving about a footish leftover.

Gather the ends together and hold while you measure the size around your neck to see how long you need.

Secure the ends by wrapping a strip of fabric around to connect with the footish of fabric strips left over to hang down.  Secure by tying and some fabric glue.

Pull on the fabric strips hanging down again to re-curl for visual appeal.

Ta-Da!

HAD to include this modelish pic of Betsy!  Isn't she GORG?

  9. It's so fantastic that you actually did one of your pins and with a friend no less! Most pinners just pin away and never get around to living out those pins. And can I just say, I 'm a little jelly of the walking buddy and snacks, and wine. Looks like such a fun day.
