Hope

Hi there, my name is Misty and I am a stay at home, homeschooling, crunchy, Christian wife, and mother of two wonderful blessings. My hubby is a self employed fisherman, and a Mainah through and through, thus we live in Maine. You can find me blogging about faith, family and life experiences at Simply Helping Him.

As Christians we often speak of having hope... Throughout this sinful world, we have something to look forward to. We have hope. What exactly is our hope based on? What exactly is our hope in? First, I want to share the definition of "Hope"
"Confidence in a future event; the highest degree of well founded expectation of good; as a hope founded on God's gracious promises"
What is hope?

Romans 8:24-25

"....but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance."
It is waiting eagerly with perseverance! For something we can not see!   What are we supposed to be put our hope in?

Jeremiah 17:7

"Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is."
Our hope is to be in the Lord....in so doing we are trusting Him and His Word, for which we will be blessed!   What is our hope?

Colossians 1:27

"To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory"

Christ! He IS our hope! He is what we are waiting for eagerly! With perseverance!

Where is our hope?

Colossians 1:5

"For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven...."
Our hope (Jesus) is in heaven!

What are we supposed to be looking for while we wait eagerly?

Titus 2:13

"Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ"

We're hoping for Jesus! He's in heaven! We're to be looking for His GLORIOUS appearing!
There will be times (for we are human) that "waiting eagerly with perseverance" doesn't seem possible.
We grow weary and tired. Life frustrates us. YET we are called to REJOICE! <--- Amen! Share!

Romans 5:2

"By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God."

Are you weary and tired? Frustrated?

Romans 5:5

"Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us."
Praying that the Lord remains your hope this day and that you are encouraged to wait eagerly, looking for Jesus' glorious appearing!
