Pre-Blog Crafty Thing

When I stopped working outside the home to stay home with my kids I had these grand visions of doing all this crafty stuff!!! 

I figured when they napped I could totally get into all the things I never took the time to do when I worked!!! 

Well then reality struck!  Darn it if I can count on ONE hand what I’ve actually done!

I did manage to figure out this puppy and it turned out quite cute if I do say so myself. 

Forget the $79 Pottery Barn version!

I spent less then $30 to buy ALL the supplies for multiple letters, INCLUDING a glue gun, extra glue sticks and a couple varieties of ribbon for hanging. 

I was so proud of myself last year that I took 2 pictures.  Haha!  

It WAS pre-blogging days ya know!

What you need:

Foam board

Exacto knife

Paper

Pen/pencil/marker

Hot glue gun

Glue sticks

Artificial moss

Ribbon

Scissors

Straight pins

Velcro

What you do:

#1:  Draw the size letter you want on a piece of paper and cut it out.  I suppose you could create a letter on your computer or print it from somewhere but I was too lazy to do that.  With all that moss on there it really doesn't matter if it isn’t perfect.

#2:  Attach the letter to the foam board with some straight pins and trace it with a pen/pencil/marker.

#3:  Cut your letter out of the foam board using an exacto knife or if you have one of those fancy crafting cutter things you can use that too.  I don’t have one so I improvised.

#4:  IF you want to hang your letter, decide how long you want it to hang down and cut your ribbon accordingly.

#5:  Cut strips of Velcro for each side of your letter and hot glue one side to the back of the letter.  Hot glue the other side to the end of your ribbon and set aside.

#6:  Take small handfuls of the moss and hot glue it in small sections to cover all sides of the letter.

#7:  You may or may not have to trim parts of the moss on the letter after you are done to make things more uniform.  I’ve made 4 of these letters and I’ve had to do it to all but one I believe.  It just depends on how it looks when you are done gluing.

#8:  If you are going to hang it, take your ribbon and attach the Velcro to the back of your letter.
