I have these doors I LOVE hanging in our playroom! $10 at a garage sale! Yeah buddy!!!!
When we hung them I liked the idea of hanging the kids artwork or photos on them.
Of course THEN they hung EMPTY for a few months.
One day I just got annoyed and got to work figuring out what the heck to do with them!
Enter THIS:
Check out the “how to” for these cute clothes pins below…
What you need:
Clothes pins (the kind with hinges)
Mod Podge
Small sponge brush
Paper plate
Paper of some kind…I used pieces of an old Anthropology catalog
Scissors
A pen/pencil/marker – basically just something to write with
What you do:
SO EASY A CAVEMAN COULD DO IT!!! ( I HATE those commercials don’t you??? Ugh!)
Anyway…continuing on.
Using a writing utensil trace around a clothes pin into the paper of your choice. Repeat 2 for as many clothes pins as you want.
Cut out the pieces of paper.
Oh but with the Anthro catalog there were some "freaky eye" pieces of paper...couldn't use those...don't want someone staring at me like that...eek!

Lay the clothes pin sized paper piece on top and press down lightly.
Paint the Mod Podge on top of the papered clothes pin. Make sure you paint around the edges a bit to seal the paper to the clothes pin tightly.
Let dry and repeat the process on the other side.
You should probably spray them with sealer but I forgot that detail when I went to Michaels so right now these don’t have sealer on them…perhaps I’ll get it next time I’m there.
You can use these as I planned to OR you can use them to hang things from a wire or a piece of string. They could be fancy chip clips. You could attach magnets to the back for your fridge. The possibilities are endless!
It's a good thing the possibilities are endless because I FAILED TO REALIZE THE WIRE MESH IS TOO SMALL FOR THE CLOTHS PINS TO FIT THROUGH TO HANG ANYTHING!!!!!
Yeah...EPIC FAIL!!!!!!!!!!!
I STILL DO NOT have a way to hang the kids art work...
Hey at least I have some ADORBs chips clips huh????????????

PAHA! That is soooo something I would do, and just another reason that I tend to avoid crafts!
ReplyDeletehaha me too! What Alyx said, I mean... at least they're cute!
ReplyDeleteGirl you totally crack me up! I am the same way with stuff! But yes, totally cute clips!
ReplyDeleteYep! Totally ridiculous isn't it???? Haha! Oh, and J totally said,,,oh why don't you just use paper clips? DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletethese are awesome, I've been wanting to do some for a while now! you could also glue a little magnet on the back of them and use them for nice little fridge hanging stuff =)
ReplyDeleteThose clips are so cute!! :):) I love the magazine page idea! And those doors are so cool! {Seriously, $10?!? Score!} If you're still looking for a way to use the doors for artwork,{are they flat?} you could adhere some cork board to it, put art work up with push pins and easily change it out! I did something similar with my kid's artwork... http://shapedbygracelife.blogspot.com/2011/06/childrens-artwork-its-not-just-for.html
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you do with those doors!! :):)
The clips are super cute! Could you run lines of string or ribbon horizontally across from the sides? And then clip their art onto that?
