Cloud Dough - The kids are gonna LOVE this!

Hi friends!  I'm currently living it up in sunny FL with the fam so I have a good friend here to take over for me!  She is WONDERFUL and I will DEFINITELY meet her IRL some day because she lives in a town near where I grew up!  Awesome huh???

Hello to The Houtz House Party readers! I am absolutely thrilled that Kelly invited me to guest post while she was MIA! I absolutely love Kelly and her blog and it is an honor to be here.

So I am Kendra and I blog at A Proverbs 31 Wife. My life is really crazy at times and I love just about a ga-zillion things. So you may find a recipe one day, a craft the next, and an inspirational one another day.

Today I have a fun activity to do with kids.

Since the little girl I babysit is two, and Kelly has four kids under three years old I thought I would share an activity that keeps this girl occupied for hours. Well maybe not hours but it feels like it. :)

The recipe for Cloud Dough is as follows.
4 cups of flour
1/2 cup of baby oil. (because baby oil is toxic I used coconut oil)

Put flour in a gallon bag, add the oil, close the bag and mush together until
the two are blended and you have a soft dough that can be easily molded.

Simple right? Messy? Yes. However it was nothing a large plastic table cloth couldn't handle.

She would squish it in her hands to make little balls and then break the balls apart.
It was dry enough that it could even be poured.

Just to let you know how into this stuff she was; this little gal is a ham, when I get the camera out she cheeses like none other. So the fact that she never even looked at me while I was taking pictures says a lot.
Clean up was as easy as one, two, three. One: remove bib and wash her hands and feet. Two: pour all the cloud dough bag into the gallon bag it was mixed up in, and wipe off little table. Three: pick up plastic table cloth and shake it out-side.

So there you go ladies. Any-one up for some down time, while your kids play with cloud dough?

  1. I've heard of playing with beans and rice, but this is the first time I've heard of the flour - I like how it is versatile!
