This is one of my favorite cakes from childhood. It’s my Grandma DuLaney’s recipe (my dad’s mom).
½ tsp salt (I use Kosher but use what ya got)
1 C sugar
1 C HOT water
3 tbsp cocoa
1 tsp baking soda
--
THEN…add:
2 C flour
1 tsp vanilla extract
Mix until just blended, pour into a greased cake pan and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
Let it cool enough that you can get it out of the pan successfully and then EAT IT!

It’s BEST WARM (or warmed up in the microwave later).
No I have never had a Miracle Whip cake but I will pinning because i am going to make this with my whole wheat flour and special ingredients, and miracle whip :-) thanks for linking up at Heavenly Treats Sunday!
