EASY Homemade Applesauce with Big Apple Mami

Hello lovelies here at The Houtz House Party! I'm so thrilled to be guest posting for Kelly while she and her lovely family get settled into their new home! My name is Kristina and I blog over at Big Apple Mami. I'd love to have you stop by and say hi!
Today I wanted to share with you my easiest recipe ever! If one word could describe my cooking style it would be easy. I really cannot be bothered with recipes that have complicated steps or too many ingredients. Sure, I might be missing out, but with three kids and counting and a busy life in NYC, I just cannot devote more time to a recipe than I already do...
My applesauce is just that! If I could figure a way to magically peel and core my apples (which is the thing that takes the longest about this recipe) I totally would do it...but alas, this is still really easy! :)
We went apple picking a couple weeks ago and got a bushel of apples. I've enjoyed making an apple pie, some apple crisp and an apple cake, but the thing I've made the most is my applesauce...probably because my littlest is seriously addicted! :)
And, now to wow you with my whiz-like baking skills, I guarantee this is easiest and well the easiest applesauce recipe you'll ever find!
You need apples and a crockpot. That's about it. Oh yes, and cinnamon! :) I find that 8-10 apples gives me a nice-sized portion.

Personally, I don't like adding sweetener to my applesauce. They are a nice combination of sweet and tart (especially if you combine various types of apples and get all those flavors juicing together) and I prefer to limit the sweet for me and the kids! :) In the past, I think I've added a touch of lime juice to the mix, but this year have chosen just to do apples and cinnamon sticks.

Stick that in your crockpot on low for about 6-8 hours or until apples are nice and mushy and you're almost done!

after they have cooked fully, all you really need to do (depending on the texture you like) is either blend it all together (take out your cinnamon sticks first) or mash with a fork. Personally I like a bit of texture in my applesauce so I used a fork.

 so yummy!

and wasn't that amazingly simple? Thanks again Kelly for letting me post here!
xoxo
